AVA’S JUNIOR UPDATE

Posted on: 8 August

Hi Members,

This past month has been an exciting and rewarding time for all of us on the course.

Kiara has been competing in junior amateur tournaments across Queensland and Victoria, holding her own and performing strongly against some of the top Australian junior golfers. She placed 20th in Queensland and 14th in Victoria.

We also took part in the NSW State Championships at Batemans Bay, held across Catalina and Moruya Golf Clubs. All four of us made the cut after the first two rounds. Kiara placed 4th in the 16 Years Girls division with rounds of 79, 83, 76, and 76 and I finished 5th with scores of 75, 79, 85, and 77.

Levi placed 7th in his age group with rounds of 79, 76, 71, and 76, and Harlan competed well with rounds of 89, 91, 93, and 92. It was a fantastic experience playing alongside talented juniors from across Australia.

Last weekend Levi and I won the Overall Boy and Girl Champions at the Greg Chalmers Junior Masters at Shelly Beach. Being one of the few local JNJG events, it meant a lot to play at home with so many familiar faces out there supporting us. Levi took the win by one shot with rounds of 73 and 71 (+1), and I came back from four shots down to finish with 76 and 72 (-2). It was a close finish and such a great result for the Central Coast, four of the top five boys were locals, which was awesome to see!

Meanwhile, Kiara returned to Queensland to represent NSW in the Schools Championships at Bribie Island, finishing tied 15th with rounds of 80 and 84. The NSW girls team placed 2nd, and the boys team came 1st, an outstanding achievement. To top it all off, Kiara has recently been selected to represent Australia in South Africa this October.  Such an exciting opportunity and an incredible achievement.

It’s been a busy but rewarding few weeks, and we’re grateful for the support from our local golf community.

Thanks,

Ava
