KOOINDAH WATERS CUP – exciting news

Posted on: 23 May

The Kooindah Waters Cup is held early August each year and sees the cream of men’s amateur golf converge on Kooindah Waters for this popular Vardon event.

It’s my pleasure to announce that The Kooindah Cup will not just be a Vardon event but also be a Jean Derrin ladies event.

Golf is a fast evolving game and we all must embrace and welcome change for the betterment and promotion of golf at our club and on the coast.

To have both men and ladies compete for individual honours in this prestigious event shows forward thinking, and that we encourage equality and inclusiveness to promote the game of golf.

The NSW Vardon Trophy is open to male amateur golfers who are affiliated with a Golf NSW club. They must hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap of 4.4 and under. The competition runs over the calendar year.

The Jean Derrin Trophy is open to female amateur golfers who are affiliated with a Golf NSW club. They must hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap of 8.4 and under. The competition runs over the calendar year.

Jean Derrin and Vardon events are run by the individual host clubs. Clubs may apply to host an event by contacting Golf NSW. Clubs that host these events must meet minimum requirements and be approved by Golf NSW.

I’m pleased to announce that Kooindah Waters will now have both a male and female winner of The Kooindah Cup. This will be played on Sunday August 3.

The Ladies trophy will be named The Susan Martin Cup to recognise the amazing amount of work Sue has done at Kooindah Waters and the passion she has for golf on the Central Coast. I’m hoping many ladies from all over the coast compete and add to what is already a popular day on our golfing calender.
