I wanted to address a couple of issues regarding our golf course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately we have come under some criticism from the membership and I wanted to address this. We invite members to have an opinion, as long as it is done in the right way. I will say we are aware of the issues, we are doing what we can to fix them with the resources we have and we need your support to help come out the other side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Irrigation<\/strong> \u2013 Our biggest issue at Kooindah Waters. I\u2019m not going to sugar coat this issue. The water quality (high iron content) is terrible and is causing us issues with our irrigation and being able to maintain our course to the condition we would like. Our irrigation is provided by a number of boars on course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WHY<\/strong> \u2013 with a build up of iron through the irrigation we are seeing problems with heads seizing up and being able to use the irrigation system to its full potential. With water not being able to release through the heads we are also seeing a build-up in the lines which cause burst pipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The green staff are battling with this each and every day as the temperatures start to heat up. No water, we start to see our course brown off. This is why we are experiencing some discoloration in our fairways and the need to keep our greens a little longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The positive<\/strong> \u2013 we have recently been given approval re a Hydrosmart system upgrade. Hydrosmart works by using a computer-generated resonance frequency to disrupt the chemical bonds in hard water minerals like calcium and magnesium, changing them into tiny, suspended particles that are less likely to form scale. This process, which involves antennae wrapped around a water pipe, prevents new scale from forming and gradually breaks down existing scale and biofilms over time. The system treats large volumes of water without chemicals, filters, or restrictions to water flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are hoping to see this system installed prior to Christmas. Cleaner treated water, no build up, no seizing up and a consistent and regular water flow over our course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fairways<\/strong> \u2013 The fairways need water. Its not rocket science and with some decent rain the fairways will recover. The fairways still have decent coverage. Once Hydrosmart is upgraded and installed we will see improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Greens<\/strong> \u2013 The greens remain longer than we would like. Bhodi has explained the greens in recent communication via email and the Members News. With recent irrigation issues we cannot bring the length down the where we like in case we experience hotter than expected temperature and\/or sever winds. None of us want to loose any greens. The summer ahead is going to be hot and will test our course and its resources. In regard to POA, Bhodi has addressed this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bunkers<\/strong> \u2013 Over 100 tonne of sand has been distributed in our Bunkers over the last 2 months. A significant improvement. We still are experiencing matting in some bunkers. Our Greens team are aware and cutting it out where possible. We would love to be able to replace some bunkers but this is not viable at this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sylvinia \u2013 <\/strong>has been well documented to both our membership and residents through constant communication from our Superintendent. Obviously we continue to monitor it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tees<\/strong> \u2013 we do have a plan to replace some of the tee surfaces. We will not start this until we are confident that the irrigation system is reliable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hope this explains some of the issues we deal with each day.
