KOOINDAH WATERS CELEBRATES US MASTERS IN STYLE
April 20th 2009 -

Golfing enthusiasts got into the spirit and celebrated the 2009 US Masters at Kooindah Waters in style on April 13.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous breakfast at Karinyas Restaurant and a golf trivia competition as they watched the final nine holes of the US Masters on the big screen.

Nearly 30 golfers then hit the fairways for a nine hole stroke competition with a little scoring help from their drawn Tour Professional playing in the US Masters event.

In the nine hole stroke competition each players gross score was taken. Players handicaps were halved to establish an overall nine hole stroke score and this was then added to the drawn professional’s score to determine the winner.

Kooindah Waters director of golf Mark Ingrey said the annual US Masters Breakfast offered an opportunity for avid golfers to get into the spirit of the tournament.

“Every year we celebrate the US Masters with this unique event and it has grown in popularity since 2007,” said Mr Ingrey.

“It is great opportunity for golfers to enjoy not only a great breakfast and some golf trivia, but gives them a chance to hit the fairways with the scoring help of one of the US Masters professionals.”

This year Kooindah Waters member Mark Ward emerged as the winner in the nine hole championship, paired with US Masters player Phil Mickelson and finishing on a combined nett score of 68.

Cheryl White won the trivia competition and the men’s and ladies nearest the pin winners were Barry L’estrange and Robin Tetley respectively.
