Central Coast Golf Day raises $56, 825 for homeless children

Businesses involved in the Central Coast’s property and construction industries were among those that participated in Investa Property Group’s (Investa’s) 2011 National Hard Hat Day charity golf event at Kooindah Waters on Friday, raising more than $56,000 for the Property Industry Foundation’s (PIF) annual fundraising campaign. National Hard Hat Day is a PIF initiative that encourages those working in the property industry to donate an hour’s salary and participate in initiatives to raise funds for charities working with homeless and disadvantaged children. Investa hosted 144 golfers representing approximately 50 companies at its 18 hole Kooindah Waters Golf Course at Wyong. The 2011 National Hard Hat Day campaign will fund several organisations actively working with Australia’s most marginalised young people, including Open Family Care in Victoria, Marist Youth Centre in Emu Plains, the largest non-government provider of residential care to disadvantaged youth in NSW and the Police Community Youth Centre in Woolloomooloo.“Approximately 40,000 young people sleep on Australia’s streets every night and many go through childhood without ever having their own home. We’re delighted to have raised more than $56,000 through this charity golf day and to contribute in a small way to making a difference,” said Cameron Holt, Group Executive, Investa Land NSW, QLD and VIC. Investa is the owner of Kooindah Waters Residential Golf and Spa Resort. The company donated the use of the golf course and the Resort’s facilities for the day. The $56,825 was raised from player’s fees, sponsorship of each hole on golf course, and a silent auction and raffle. Prizes included a signed 2011 Wallabies team jersey donated by Kooindah Waters Golf Club Ambassador, Adam Ashley-Cooper and a signed golf putter from the Resort’s Ambassador, Craig Parry. This charity golf day is one of many events staged by PIF across Australia each year. The Foundation raises approximately $1.5 million annually and distributes these funds, and provides in-kind building services to approximately 20 charities working in communities to help disadvantaged children.
